Anyone looking for dendro? global aquatic selling $15 dollars per head. I saw they have very nice dendro...

I wouldn't buy anything from global. If they lie and tell you to keep them a secret they can't be trusted and there fish is always in bluewater. Pretty sad

I've bought a lot from them and never had a problem. They have no problem telling you that the water is blue because they add chemicals to kill anything that may be on the fish

I know plenty of people that have bought from there, myself included, and have not had or heard of any negative response about the place any more than any other LFS. Heck, I can count off a handful of local places that are worse businesses in the area. Nothing wrong with the way they handle their livestock or do business. I would be surprised to hear of a wholesale importer not treating livestock that comes in, they have to protect their investment as well. Personally I like the fact they are spending the money on this so I don't have to later.

Not sure what "lies" they are telling, I have always gotten honest information from them to my questions. You just need to know what you are looking for and make educated purchases. They have never asked to keep their place a secret anytime I have been in there, not sure where you are getting that info from, they even advertise about being open to the public, and their prices are still better than retail, even if there is no return policy, but that's what the public has to deal with if they want to buy from a wholesaler...

Sounds like you are biased and just have something against the place. If so, please enlighten us!

Hey brothers, first they told me about keeping secret too, but later I think they change the way they handle it..now its opened up to public. I have no problem with their corals and fish...I bought fish, corals, shrimps and reef water too..not thing wrong with it..two of the guys their treat me really friendly everytime I come in. they answered all my questions honestly. They just don't want to sell everything to you. If its not good to add to your tank they will tell me.. I like this place and sometime I love to see corals I just come out there to take a look...they very firm on the price too, but that's ok..that means your corals are worthed to have.

Hey they have about 10 colonies of dendro in stock. starts from 2 heads up
15 per head.. today they have a lot of recordia for sale. start from 8 to 45
I bought 4 frags for $32 lucky some of them split...beautiful I'll post picture later
oh the cleaner shrimp(large) only 15 wow..the local stores charge me 24 to 32
I got a big one..and the red & black tip starfish just 16..my daughters love it so much...

ive also bought many things from here and knock knock no bad results the little guy ususally makes me a deal on some stuff actually just picked up a clam last time i was there for reasonable price

<<<MOD EDIT: Personal Attack>>> If people on here agreed that he said keep it a secret and have had mixed results on fish goes to show. He also changes his name from bill to bob to ben maybe you should wait for a response before you open your mouth and you don't know me

I was told some stuff about this place that they buy quarter fish .I also was told that he asks local breeder for there runts and sell them to people as grade a stuff that is a quote from a local breeder that sell to him .I bought stuff from him a couple years back and had no luck with the stuff i bought from him so i stop buy from him.the fish alway died after a week or two some stuff did live and look good. The problem i have about this place is that he is a WHOLESALER and should not be open to the PUBLIC if he want to do retail then he should open a retail store to.He should not be going around using fake name telling people to keep this place a secret for local fish store don't find out and join his secret website what does this say about him and the stuff he selling to you what else is a secret that he is not tell you? this guy that put ads on a for sale site and in the keyword he has a little secret to where he bashes one of Chicago reefer sponsors call him a crook thief that he is going to jail I know the guy and most people go to his store and know this cant be true and people support this wholesaler and a Chicago reefer team member fishbeard (mod) supports and buy for this place when it cuts down one of are own sponsors is pretty sad to me

So all of your information is "here-say" and long outdated personal experiences? I dont remember seeing anything in the place in recent history being sold as "A Grade" livestock, and the prices sure as heck don't reflect that either.

If you have a problem with a wholesaler selling to public customers, thats your decision not to shop there. Their policies are clearly stated at the front of the store long before you even make it to where all the livestock is at. I personally feel it is a fair trade-off to save a significant amount of money on a fish knowing there is no return policy due to the type of business they are, I enjoy the fact that I can go in there, look around at what they have, and buy something after being able to look it over with my own eyes. There is no arm-twisting or bullying sales tactics, and if you discuss your system with them, they are more than happy to tell you whether something is a good fit for your tank or not.

Im confused about all this "secret" stuff that is being brought up, the company is very easily found on the first try searching google. The website is very straightforward, they even publish BOTH their operating locations on the site and plenty of contact information. Heck, they even advertise deals on Craigslist to get more customers to come check out the place. Does not sound like a very big secret to me. As far as local fish stores, I would be very skeptical to think any of them are unaware of this place, and have no doubt that some of them even buy their livestock thru this place.

I'm sorry if you do not agree that I like this place, but if you are trying to make me look like a bad guy for NOT badmouthing them by bringing my name into your post and making this discussion personal, then I truly feel sorry for you. I am just being objective to the discussion at hand, while it seems that the same person(s) want to just cut the place down by bringing up out-dated and secondhand information.

Global aquatics has repeatedly (within days) told me to keep them a secret because they "don't want to make their wholesale customers upset." This is generally applicable if you email them through Craigslist. I have never been there as a result so have no first hand experience with their in-store sales tactics.

They also have a business model which involves lying to customers through giving themselves rave reviews. As recently as last week Bob/Bill/Ben was doing this on Reef Central and had all of his posts on the subject deleted.

They also do have a reputation of purchasing quarter fish, heavily medicating them, and reselling them to their RETAIL customers. Most of the high quality LFS around the city will tell you to stay away from them and that they will NEVER purchase livestock from Global Aquatics. This is through FIRST HAND conversations with local LFS owners that I trust on more than a customer only basis.

Like I said, I have never been there for the following reason:

There are plenty of good, consistently reputable, honest LFS around the Chicagoland area. Why take your chances on a place that has CONSISTENT 50/50 (or less) reviews?

If the breeder told me it is not here say and the quarter fish statement came from someone that worked there.AS far as local fish store knowing about them yes they do that why no pet store in IL buy from them because people who own pet store can not buy from a wholesaler that is stabbing them in the back by selling wholesale to the public .you do not have to feel sorry for me feel sorry for all your local stores and Chicago reefers sponsors that this place is hurting buy sell to the public for the same or near the same price they pay for it. <<<MOD EDIT: Personal Attack>>> you are a mod and you support this place when they are cutting down one of our sponsors in the keyword in his craiglist ads. here is a quote from his secret website
Here's the scoop: We're a supplier of pet shops (fish, dry goods, etc.) and other businesses in this industry. Normally we only sell commercially. However, on occasion, we have a "Secret Open House" and sell to fellow hobbyists fish-keepers -- just don't tell any pet shop owners/employees that we sometimes sell to the public.
sometimes sell to the public. This is very important.

If you are incapable of defending your opinions without attacking somebody else, then keep it to yourself.

We apparently have a few people on this site that are unable to play nice. If you can't defend your opinions without attacking somebody else, then your opinions must be pretty weak.

Warnings are over, only infractions in this thread going forward.

wow i agree with all but at the end of the day i buy both at them and all others but to buy a fish at say 90 at ga and then go else where, where the same fish came from and pay 180 its not a hard decision although i do not agree with there keep secret thing i was told this first time i went in after they posted the sign on front door hours of operation to the public

then we all should go buy the fish from the place he buys from and pay $30 for it. Everybody has to make money off what they sell. he is a wholesaler selling to the public on the side . thats why you have to pay $180 at the local fish store for the same fish
