Mixed reef aquarium

I would love to start a mixed SPS/LPS aquarium. Any pointers, basic must haves, anything would help me.

I’d start with what space do you have, and can you incorporate a sump?

There are many ways to run a tank but the one thing every thriving tank has in common is STABILITY.

i have a 29 gal biocube but just very basic maintenance. I top off manually and i just go off by the way tank acts but that is not very effective i see when i test it with some very easy care SPS.

do you think adding a sump will make any difference besides adding more volume and having better filtration?

Try to install an auto top off system so salinity won't go up and down.

i did realize salinity swings is a big thing! ATO best bang for your buck go.

When I come to SPS, any type of swing is not good

Sump may not as useful as other things like ATO. 29 cube is small enough to maintain it manually. Keep up the water changes and get a dent light (LED)
