My battle with aefw

rockhead ammonia looks to be between .5 and 1 everything I checked. I checked the 93, 10 gallon holding tank and the blue tub holding the coral now

There is only one other thing that has happened to me but is the last resort that I'm basing this on is bad salt , years ago I started to see my tank crashing so naturally I did big water changes and more I did the worst it looked come to find out the salt I was using was able to absorb enough moisture and started to break down inside the bucket and was toxic, I switched salts and within a few weeks the tank was really coming around . I don't bring this option up much because it's rare to see, just don't rule it out anything is possible.

wow....I've never heard of salt mixes breaking down and becoming toxic....I've used damp/hardened salt mixes in the past and the only issue I had was the salts ability to completely dissolve...
can you elaborate a little more on this?

btw, I'm sorry to hear of your crash anarchy :( I've dealt with crashes in the past as well and I feel your pain....best of luck with the bounce back!

It is what it is. I'll save what I can. If nothing gets saved then I'll start fresh. Could be a good thing. Start my collections over with nicer pieces, fix a few issues with plumbing, fix/ rebuild my stand the way I want it. This is just my chance to perfect my system, upgrade a few things and make things look nicer and cleaner

As someone who knows nothing about nothing, from what I have read, if your tank went from stable to aefw then to flat worm exit dose, the sudden water quality issue causing a crash would seem to be the fault of the flat worm exit.

I'm sorry to hear this is happening to you, if you need anything don't hesitate to ask.

Well just a couple things that lead me to believe it was salt was the smell of it when I broke the rock hard salt it let out a Oder that smelt like fertilizer and almost tingled your nose like ammonia , and when I did a cal alk mag check it was not consistent from one mix to another.

I can see that as a possibility it asoebs moister and any contaminates in the moister . Also the different additives in salt mixtures i was told r all different sizes and settle and seperate i was told always mix my salt before adding to the ro supossably salt settles on bottom rest rises to the top this is why i stick with rc 4 seperate bags never harden on me and i can shake and mix it before makeing my salt water. I have no clue how true it is but figure its eay enough to do so why not plus chisiling salt out a bucket sucks salts always warm if your bucket is colder it creates its own condensation from what ive seen

Here's the results of my testing
Alk 10
Phos 0
Nitrate 0
Nitrite didn't test
Cal 420-440
Ammonia .025-.5
Salinity 1.025
Mag 1410

Ok let's start stocking it up

Some polyps are opening!

I'm in shock right now. I can't believe this is happening to your tank, that's awful. If you need help with anything let me know man. I'll be over in a heartbeat. I'll get you a piece of everything in my tank when this blows over.

1) will eat pests
2) not bother my shrimp
3) won't burrow in my crushed coral
