My blue hippo tang has started picking at my zoanthids and other polyps...one mystery solved. Is this common and is there any thing I can try feeding to discourage this. I've tried the romaine lettuce and it doesn't touch it.

resurrecting an old thread here, But i have the same question. Really starting to think im in love with Zoas, but i know ive always wanted a Blue Hippo Tang. Has any had any luck keeping a Blue Tang with their Zoanthids?

There's a spray you can buy to keep your pets away from plants and other objects, not sure if would work in a reef but it doesn't specify that it wouldn't work.

Hmmmm, I'll let you try spraying your zoas first and come back with the results.... :)

never had any issues with my blue hippo eating Zoas

Tangs will pick on things that have algae growing on them usually. Do your zoas have algae growing on them or near them?

Blue Hippo's are almost always reef safe. I bought the rouge one that started this thread. Weirdo isn't even a big fan of nori, strange fish...
