So my long spine black "reef safe" sea urchin ate my Kenya tree frag and pipe organ frag. This guy is supposedly reef safe, has anyone had this problem before? He is currently in my sump and I am about to sell or trade him.
I had one that I got the size of a baseball and grew it to the size of a basket ball. I never saw it eat a coral but it did used to knock everything over in my tank.
I currently have a Halloween urchin that I have had for a few years and he is much less of a pain when it comes to pulling rocks over but he still will move small frags once in a while but for the most part not a issue.
As with most things in this hobby... be careful of sea urchins. Their spines can break off and land in the sand bed. If you're ever moving around the sand, picking up a frag that fell, those broken pieces can still sting... Just my $0.02 - Happy friday!
