SKIMZ SM201 Skimmer

Silly question but are you sure you don't have the bubble plate on reversed. The side with the blank acrylic should be mounted above the pump outlet, if that makes sense?

I wouldn't doubt it but I'm at work right now. However, I don't even think it's even possible to put it on backwards because mine is one of the ones with the vertical rod that holds the bubble plate that is off center. I've seen pics online of this skimmer that have the rod directly in the center of the bubble plate. I'll take a look when I get home.

Well, you were right. I had the bubble plate on backwards and all of the air was being forcefully shot up into the skimmer. It was actually starting to produce some pretty good skim even when it was set up incorrectly. Now the real test begins.

So...after a while running the air screw wide-open for a while, I did what Dan does and closed it all the way and then only slightly opened it. This further reduced the exploding large bubbles in the neck and produced more of a smooth and rolling flow within the chamber and neck. I've seen a lot more skimmate doing it this way....
