I think the real problem is when it drops back down. It stresses out the corals trying to cool them down then heating them up.
 
I have a home made digital unit made with a raspberry pi it matches my store bought unit to the t. The numbers are correct. I just got my led fixture today and my a.c. in the other day so all is well now. I need to hit menards tomorrow for some chain and anchors to hang the unit. Going to be sad my halide is gone my corals really liked it the growth was amazing and the colors were even better. All my corals came from people with leds and I have better color with the halide than their leds
 
i really want to try Halides. Maybe just a small additive attachment with my LEDs to see if my corals respond well. Ive only used kessils since i started reefing a few years ago.
