Thoughts on ReefKeeper vs Apex?

I have a RKL SL1 package that Marine Depot sells on my 72 Gal Bow. It is ok. It does the job. Programming it is a PIA. I bought an Apex for the 92 Corner. It was pretty easy to program. The web interface is great. I like to control it from the computer. I have Uverse...and it is a pain to keep a tunnel open through the firewall....to be able to run the iphone app with it. It works... it is cool. I think the best for me is to be able to pull up the computer interface and run graphs...reports....check status.... change programming....etc. I think the Apex will one day replace the RKL on the 72 as well. I just need to buy an new outlet module and interface cable.

Good luck on your decision.

I guess if I wasn't lazy, I could check if you mentioned this, but what do you want out of your controller? What equipment do you want to control? That helps when deciding what control suits you. :)

Well right now, I want internet access (preferable iphone/ipad control), email/text alerts, temp monitoring/control, light control (just on/off for now), and salinity monitoring.

Eventually, probably ph monitoring, led dimming control, and the ability to control multiple tanks if possible.

Beyond that, I don't even know what else I could control :)

that sounds like full apex. could go apex lite or even apex jr and get the dimming mod later on. you would need to get the mod for ph as well. i would definitely go full or lite apex if your going to control more than 1 tanks with it tho.

ding ding ding ding

Don't get the RK then. Only the SL2 does that, and it's been recalled for years. They apparently have a fixed model, but I'm still waiting for my replacement with no resolution in site.

Perfect. Looks like that answers the question then :)

Thanks for all the help everyone!
