Glass and majano are good anemones for a stock biocube tank. Honestly the stock lighting is pitiful at best for even a bubble tip, we have one that is slowly recovering under leds after spending a few months in a stock biocube 14. It was rose red when it went in and ice pink now.

I'm not recommending you grow aiptasia or majano, but I had an all natural tank that was infested in them, it was fowlr, and I liked how it looked.

hmm.. so its probably not a good idea to keep an anemone then i guess.. what do u thnk would be a good step dwn from that.. cause for now i've been keeping soft corals like a kenya trea, some mushrooms, frogspwan, and some hammer corals and pulsing xenia and they do just fine under the stock lights.. So any suggestions on corals?

I have a 29 and 8 gal BioCube. There really aren't nems you can keep in those. You can keep Kenya Trees and other soft corals. Another option could be mushrooms. I have a "fuzzy" variety that is in my 8 gal tank....that have two onyx clown babies that are hosting them. Even that....the light needs are lacking...

One thing you could do is eliminate the top of the tank, the hood all together and purchase an LED pendant. As long as you can adjust the intensity of the light...which I am not sure if you can... but if you could....that could be a pretty cool setup. Then you could keep a nem no problem...actually you could probably keep anything as long as you can maintain your water parameters.

Seriously look into torch corals, and long tentacle plate corals. Both are sustainable under stock PC lighting and look very much like anemones with the long sweeping tentacles. If the "look" is what you are going for, this is what I would do.

for me actually i just want to expand on corals.. and try different ones out and see if i can maintain and keep one... im only familiar with soft corals and such.. i want to go into something a little different.. for long tentacle plate corals.. which one would u suggest would be good..

@Dansreef.. Was wondering do you knw any good sites or place to get led pendant.. cool! fuzzy mushrooms.lol do u have pics so i can see them?

Here is a picture of the Baby Onyx Clowns shortly after I bought them. They took to the fuzzy mushrooms almost immediately. They are in the 8 gal bio cube with stock lighting in this picture. I am planning a new to me tank soo in my home office. It will be there new home... The 8 gal is a challenge from a stability standpoint... and I get a lot of algae growth unfortunately.

As for LED Pendant.... I have not gone too far with that idea. I know that there are a few out there. Check Marine Depot...and the other on-line vendors.

Wow.. Just wanna say thats an amazing photo right there... Wow! Those fuzzy mushrooms look like frogspawn.. Do the fuzzy mushrooms sting other corals?

Nope. In fact I have had this colony for many years. They have not multiplied until recently. They are unique... I have not seen them anywhere. The ones I have seen either have shorter tentacles or are not as dense. If I get to a point of fragging the colony... I will post here.

they are pretty sweet.. yeah.. if you do decide to frag them let me knw.. im def thnking of getting one of those "fuzzy" mushrooms.. thanks for sharing that..

I kept a bta in the bio for a while. It did just fine. Now I'm not recommending them or anything but better lighting would be best for them. The only reason I got rid of it is because I had alot of coral in the cube and it wasn't moving much but was kind of stinging some zoas I had around it. That is another reason why I wouldn't recommend it in such a small cube. If you want to expand you coral you'll probably have problems with it as it will probably move a bit trying to get the light necesities it wants.

Get the PAR 38 from rapidled.com
+1 on the torch coral, or frogspawn. They don't move around like anemones do and end up in your powerhead. I will never get anemone's again (I still have 3, but I won't buy them anymore).

Thanks Dansreef.. i thnk the light fixture is pretty sweet.. just gonna see if other ppl has used them.. but i thnk that would be a perfect light fixture for the biocube

Jeppun - Try looking at this:

This could be something that would be interesting and could open up a world of possibility for you. I am not sure you can dim them. It might be worth to call MD. Check out the reviews...there is a refugium mentioned and an AIO...

Yep, those are the ones. Not cheap, but very nice. I thought they were JBJ's, but I don't see them on JBJ's website...
