Where to buy Plastic Egg Crate?

Looking to pick up some plastic egg create the top of my tank (cover so I can set my lights on it / better heat distribution) as well as for a frag rack.

Figured I can go to home depot / lowe's but just want to make sure... In the Wheaton Area if you know a specific place. Thx.

you can find the white stuff at home depot in the lighting department. it's like $6/8 a section.

U can go to new fish. They have black egg crate. But the wholes might to big for sum fish. U can look for sum clear mesh and make a frame.

Thanks everyone - As far as the clear mesh...any ideas? I could tack it to the underside of the egg crate (tank side) therefor stopping anyone from jumping.

Thinking of maybe splitting the egg crate in 1/2 so that the front half can be removed w/o taking off the light unit for feeding, etc...

BRS also sells the clear mesh, I vote you skip the eggcrate and just build the mesh frame for the top, I have it on my cube, and we made one for the 40b reef I built. Best of all worlds, prevents heat, doenst block light, and keeps your fish alive. It is a little pricier than eggcrate, but well worth it. Menards you can get the frame kit for like 8-15 dollars, and BRS the mesh is like 12 dollars or something, enough to do a 6 foot wide tank.

I actually found black mesh in the gardening section at home depot. I have a HUGE roll of it, as its made to mesh down landscaping.

If you want some, let me know I will give some to you.

I also used window screen framing to building a frame to put it in. This method doesn't block any light at all from getting to coral but prevents any jumpers.

The spacing of the mesh is about 1/4" x 1/4"

I used bare silver trim and painted satin black, however the bronze finish doesn't look that bad with a black tank either.

You should've told me when you were over. I would've showed you how you could've done it! Ah Dan! lol

haha sry! I saw yours, didnt think it was a DIY - looked great!

Problem is my lights currently sit on my top cover.... I guess I could prob hang 'em but Id haveta rig it up as it was a used light w/ no hanging equip. Also cant use the mounting legs bc its actually a 24in unit for a 30in tank.... Hanging would prob give me better coverage tho :)
