who still runs t5?

I've only ever used LED since I got into the hobby about 4 years ago. I used a lot of garbage for a while (anyone remember marineland reef crappable fixture?) but my last one was a maxspect razor. It took some time to find the sweet spot but I was happy with this light. Never kept anything crazy difficult but got decent growth and color. That being said, I am switching over to a ATI powermodule for my 120. It's not because I don't think LEDs can get the job done. But aesthetically, no LEDs seem to produce that softer look that I personally like so much. All the LED's I've seen LED's (radion, kessil, maxspect, reefbreeders) seem to produce a sharper/harsher kind of light. I don't know, it's hard to describe.

+1 only ever used led but going to go t5 on my 40 breeder. The powermodule really is the best of worlds.

I used leds for a bit and went back to halides (currently using a Halide reefbrite pendant). I get much better growth with the halide. The LEDs ran cooler and didn't require bulb replacements but my corals never seemed to be thriving just surviving.

If I were to do a larger rank I'd go with an ATI led/T5 combo fixture, or just an ATI T5 with reefbrite supplements. I like the open top rimless look and think it's difficult to pull that look on with a larger tank with a Halide system.

I run an Aquatic Life 4 bulb fixture as well and I really like it. There are lots of different types of bulbs so you can really customize the look you want. Having individual reflectors of a good quality helps too -- SPS seem to be doing well. As far as bulb replacement cost goes -- my understanding is that its really not a good idea to replace them all at once anyways. So every few months you get a new 18-20 dollar bulb, no biggie.

I have had the the ATI Hybrid Powermodule 8 bulb with 3 Led Clusters up for 2 days now and all I can say after 2 days is even the led's looked better than my kessils. Great shimmer, color, and coverage. T5/Led best of both worlds. I have version 3 of the led clusters too and it has been verified by ATI North America that the led clusters are swappable so I'm hoping that means different led combos will be available at some point.
