Yeah, it should be fine. The ocean has swells and calms considerably at times as well. 50% at night for 8 - 10 hours (or whatever you want) will be fine.

For a 3 ft tank you want the power down a little and it should be in the .2-.6 range. Ecotech recommends .55 as a starting point. Your spot will be a matter of tenths of a second. If ou start loosing faith disconnect the Apex for a minute and use the "auto tune" feature to dial tham in to give you an idea.
