Santa Monica UAS ATS Turf Scrubber review - hog and surf - EPIC FAILURE

Pulled my hog3 out today, really gave it a cleaning, well..... All 6 magnets on the wetside have rusted through their shit ass liquid electrical tape "waterproofing." I suppose the life expectancy of all hogs are less than 2 years and within that, I wonder how much metal or other nasties the rusting magnets released.

I mean really, WTF? How hard is it to do the job right? Just use clear casting resin and totally seal the magnets.

I'm going to do it right myself, actually giving a shit about the end product. Afterwards it's going up for sale, most likely fleabay but if anyone is reading and wants to try the damm worthless thing let me know.

Didnt take it in bad way i agree with u and been following this thread since the beginning and was astounded by there replies to complaints id tie a brick to it and chuck it theough there window

Santa Monica isn't looking for repeat customers. They grab your money and don't give a Effe aftwards. Must be the money filled pillow helps him sleep every night.

Glad they have have profits as a primary focus...

But at least we have the option of spreading the word. I'll make sure this hits top google search result.

My door on the drop2 was worn out just after a year, I only open the door on it 12 13 at the most and wouldn't stay shut and asked sm for a new door. Their reply was for me to fix it myself with help from them instead of sending me a 25 cent door. I will never buy anything again from them lol

Guys, maybe try a refugium instead? You can even get hang-on types that don't take up much space if you can't retrofit your sump. I've always been a firm believer in the benefits of a fuge. I think they are about the same as a turf scrubber, but can also support a wider variety of flora and fauna.

Any update?
Mine is still generating algae regularly, but has begun to show the signs of a magnet becoming unsealed :(

If it is within warranty they'll send you replacement magnets. I got some of that heat wrap marine grade coating and shrunk wrapped with superglue inside then siliconed them in space covering all sides of the magnet with silicone (since silicone doesn't adhere well to plastic).

Holding up so far. Waiting to get my growth back since I had to let the silicone dry for a few weeks as a precaution

Might be time to sell it. Whatever is in the water is stopping it from growing. Rare but has happened.

Would be a great test, to see how it responds in someone else's water.

I'm glad you gave up. With that it gave me a great chance to try a far superior product, 15 days out did yours. This should help to conclude there isn't metal, ammonia, nutrient or other mysterious problem preventing algea growth. So, I'd say the review is concluded.

FAILURE of the HOG and SURF.

I received new magnets and new 'covers'...siliconed them in and it's been 'steady as she goes'.
