:woohoo: I got a super score over the weekend. Picked up a used 304 for $300. Started to tear it down on Sunday and hated what I was seeing, incorrect and erratic torque on every bolt, lack of gaskets and all kinds of other crap. Tonight I got to the rotating assembly and it's almost new! Looks like a fresh rebuild that was run no more than a couple thousand miles. The guy I picked it up from must have took the top end off for painting but never got into the bottom end. Will send the heads out to get a vavle grind and guideplates, while I pick up the rest of the parts to put it together.

It's a '74 motor and heads, so 150bhp stock rating. With the head work, roller rockers, cam, intake, .010 over bore, headers, hei dizzy, might get it up over 175.
 
Nice wish i had time for cool projects i did buy anither motorcycle but hopefully i dont have to work on it lol

LOL good luck. anything with wheels seems to take too much time anymore. But it is fun to tear down and build up a solid motor.

Everyone's getting something new to work on. Looks like I need to get my programmer or at least some new parts. Stock duramaxs are no fun

well finally got the couple days off to tear the short block down on the used 304... it's wore out. Well beyond specs. The rod and main bearings look like they are steel shot with a couple having serious taper. Dang.

Well, after looking around for a couple weeks I found a place in south carolina who'll send me a 360 short block that's computer balanced and 10:1. Great reputation with circle track guys so, I put down a deposit. Once they find a core 4-5 weeks later I should have it in my garage. It'll get edelbrock preformance alum heads, comp valve train/cam and be topped with edelbrock intake and carb. Should be 350-400bhp. :woohoo:
 
more motor porn!

The bottom end is all blue printed and put back together. New King aluminiminium rod and main bearings and a few other tweaks have all the clearances just a little on the loose side of spec. Should hold together if I decide to beat on it a little. Compression will be 11.78 on average with .037 average quench. Can't wait for the best of the motor porn to be delivered... more to come.

I'm getting out of a couple other hobbies (like brewing) and sold two car projects I'd never finish. Money to use for the jeep :D Still need to figure out how to pay for the atomic efi.

I think it has something to do with tapatalk. Since the latest update the other day I've been having problems seeing alot of pictures, but some I can see its weird
