Well Cecily and I got a decent tax return this year so we had a long talk about tanks and stuff and decided we could finally get a big tank again and this time be able to do things right. We will be able to enjoy this tank and be more patient and dedicated to maintenance which has been one of our shortfalls in the past.
Enough of that nonsense.
I would like to thank Bobby Vander Meer for selling us this tank and especially for the white glove delivery he also provided. He was a pleasure to deal with and i hope he gets his hands on a smaller tank soon.
The tank is a Marineland Perfecto 93g cube 30"Lx30"Wx24"H. It was the thicker nicer rim at the top and bottom and the seams are black. The back glass is already painted black and there is a 6"x5"x8" internal overflow box installed at the center top of the back glass. Inside the overflow the back glass has been drilled and a 1-1/2" bulkhead installed. Also included is the drain plumbing with what is probably and expensive 1-1/2" true union ball valve.
One of the best parts of this setup is the stand. Its what sold me on buying this. It is custom made and is 39-1/2" tall and 38-1/2" wide. I like that I will not have to bend down to look at my tank. Also its wide enough to fit the 40g breeder sump/fuge which was also included in the deal. Its one of the things that I didnt like about the cubes is the limited space you have for a sump and other equipment in the stock stands. So I'm excited to have such a large sump and extra space in the stand. The stand does need a little cosmetic work a paint job a door nob and one of the baffles in the sump was cracked in transport so i will need to get one cut and silicone it in place.
An Eheim 1262 was also included as the return pump for the system.
Heres a crappy cell phone pic of the tank, stand, and sump in its temporary spot.
I am starting this build thread today even though ive had the tank for a couple days because I got my first order of supplies for this build from BRS today.
Items in my order include:
Glass hole saw for the returns locline pipe and fittings barbed fittings bulkheads vinyl hose a strainer for the overflow bulk head and to get free shipping i also ordered the screen top kit for this tank and a refractometer something ive needed for quite a while.
This weekend the plan is to get the return holes drilled and install the locline returns.
Enough of that nonsense.
