If we're going to spend $30, I'm going to ask that we buy from a different sponsor, or vendor, but not who we went with for this one. I don't have the time to check, so if I'm the first to say it, the polyp looks like poop in comparison to the pics we were given. I shouldn't have to have the lights at a crisp Windex look to appreciate a polyp...if it's "ultra" I would hope it looks good in daylight and actinic. This isn't a knock on George, obviously, but we've definitely been more negatively (than positively) wow'd by ASD in past dealings. I don't think they deserve our business on this level. Just ma thoughts.
+2, even though i didn't participate in this one :D

Hopefully a video check-in is acceptable. The way my polyps grew, it would have been impossible to take a photo of all of them. :)

The competition ends Thursday, so Idk why you're already doing final check-in, lol...if for some reason you sprouted 10 heads or the thing melted, we would need to know that.
I know, I just doubt another head coming in, although I do have a pair of small bumps forming. Knowing me, I'd forget, so I just got it out of the way. :p

+1 Argeed -I didn't think these were very impressive compared to the picture ASD provided w/ their over-saturation.

Please keep in mind, only a portion of that $30 goes toward the actual polyp. Iirc it was only something like $12 for the polyp itself. I know the sponsor they were bought from likes to play with their photoshop, but quite honestly the polyps don't look much different in my own tank from their pic. It really does come down to your lighting playing a big role in how awesome a polyp looks. A good majority of the $30 is the credit and prizes being payed out during the contest. We can get another awesome polyp, put a smaller portion of entry towards credit and prizes to cut costs, or get a cheap polyp and put more towards credit and prizes. This one was a compromise to get an awesome polyp and still have an awesome payout and prizes.

That's what i figured George, thanks got clarifying. I vote for one of our sponsors that actually plays part in the community like wcr or hc. I'm sure they could hook us up with some cool stuff

Thanks for the clarification on the breakdown of the entry fee. I'm glad that the polyps look decent in your tank (what temp are you running?), but you and I have seen some nice palys, and I wouldn't put these on the top of my list. With the buying power we have and the ability to be more selective, I'm sure a vendor/sponsor will cater to our desires a little more attentively this go-around.

As long as the cap is $30 and we can see the polyp prior, then I'm sure I'd be in as well.

Well, 48 hrs to go, 1 polyp, and the twins and a bump, the tortoise tried to win! Can't wait for the next one! Fishbeard, any thoughts on what it will be? My kids love telling their friends " and this one had twins, look see the baby ones!" Something purple or rainbow I wouldn't mind, jmo. Or Darth Mauls, since I'm a Star Wars fan.

I moved my polyp into my frag tank. Same filtration, as it's on the same system. The only difference is that there's 60x indirect turnover and the fact it's 7" under a RapidLED 7 LED bulb that's 16" over the water.

Darth mails aren't happening unless someone has a source of them that don't melt when you look at them funny, and of course selling WAY below value, or we could be looking at a $40-$50 entry fee... Yikes.

Haven't had my brain food yet this morning but if it is 7" under the led bulb and the bulb is 16" over the water wouldn't the polyp be 9" above the waters surface?

That's what I get from reading this anyways. But hey like I said I haven't had my brain food yet this morning.
