our electric bills

I seem to get those too. For some reason, I'm always over double all my neighbors.

I honestly think they send those to everybody trying to sell us some shat or something lol. Everyone I know gets those and they all say that they are using like 100% more power than their neighbors. I think it's a scam lol. Or they are comparing us to the foreclosed homes

Being in NWI, NIPSCO never sends me a message like ComEd (presumably) sends you all in IL. Any idea what their end game is? Is there anyone who would use less electricity based on reports of what their neighbors use?

One day police will stop by our house to see if we grow weeds or not..:)

Before setting up a reef tank and only had a plant stand in my basement (indoor tropical bonsai) I figured my house was on a watch list. Overall low electricity usage except for the daily spikes of 10+ t5 bulbs set on timers. An obvious plant growing signature.

Im overwhelmed by the amount of money some of you spend on electricity per month.. I really don't know how mine is so low, nor do I plan on investigating..

3,800 sqft home - 280G system in the basement. Lights are on timers, 3x300 watt heaters are on temp probes. I am running 2 MAG pumps (18 and 24) and a skimmer pump 24x7 Granted we keep our house at 60* in the winter and 74* in the summer, but my bill hovers around $140 a month for both winter and summer.

As much as I love this hobby, I don't think i could pay double this or more per month to keep it going...

Just received the new bill, looking at it on my phone;

1931 kWh
$206.68

Up $65 from the last bill. Sure will be nice to have the 75 taken down, might get me back to where I was before I put up the 210.

Could we do a group buy on solar panels? Seems when the aggregation contract expired last October, the rate nearly doubled for me. From. $0.04 to $0.07 per kWh.

Bill went from $200 to nearly $400

Only a 46 gallon tank with 300 watts of heat, two ai Vegas. We have a hot tub as well, but it's been running longer than the tank.

What brand heater do you use?

Yikes !!

I usually run around $240 winter and $350 summer.

Interesting. This made me go look up my ComEd bills.... My November bill was $126 and December was $215....that would include the oh so efficient Christmas lights that burn energy like crazy. It will be interested to see now with the new tank up and running ...making a total of three DT's where my electricity will come in at.

Our bills in nwi hover between $250 in the summer and $300-$350 in the winter. We also get the "you use more power than your neighbors" statement every month or so O_o

My bills range anywhere from low 100's to $198 at the highest point in the last two years. Last month it was $176. It jumped $50 from December to january

I thought $176 was high and I adjusted some things on my tank to not run as long or turn on as often with my apex. Hopefully it will drop some more with those settings. I also do have two 300 w heaters. May need to switch that out

$201 for me last month. To be fair I still use crappy bulbs for household lighting. Otherwise my tank is using
1x 150w heater
1x maxspect 160w running at 100w
40w from power heads
12w from filter pump
8w from skimmer pump.

I pay 75 a month typically (small apt) I'm not sure what percentage of that goes to the tank though. The only big consumer is the 250 w halide. I have a dc return run at low speed, 2 mp10s dialed down to about 50%, a kessil a350 at about 50%, a heater, skimmer, and led fuge light, plus a couple other odds and ends.
