Any ideas on what coral this is? It's brownish with purple tips and nestled right in between a bunch of GSP

Got an aerial of the bristle work today too, he's huge!

Checked the water today everything was perfect. So, I ordered my CUC from reefcleaners.org.

I ordered...

14 dwarf cerith
4 Nass.
5 Florida cerith
5 nerites

Sound like too much or too little?

I'm on my phone but on here it looks like aiptasia, google it and compare to what's in ur tank. Not a big deal to have one but u got to zap it ASAP. Can spread like wild fire and they are not good. I use aiptasia x and they melt right away. Others use boiling water or lemon juice and inject them with a syringe, never tried those but hear it works. Whatever u do get rid of it. It's not a coral

Yeah I was doing some reading and I saw it was probably aiptasia too. Looked today and it was gone tho.... So I guess the problem took care of itself

If u have peppermint shrimp they could have eaten it but chances are it just retracted back into its hole. Check it out after the light to out. I'm willing to bet that it is still there

+1 on Monty06, make sure you get that pest anemone out before it's out of hand. Oh and sounds like you're on a great start on your tank, welcome to the hobby!

Could I just use a razor blade?

I used to have a huge aiptasia problem... IME using a razor just spreads it more because some of the flesh floats off somewhere and turns into another little aiptasia monster and the one i tried to scrape off ends up growing back too... lol. What I did to my verrrry last one is smother it in superglue. Haven't seen another in my tank since.

Thanks, I'll try that

Coolio, make sure you completely cover it in superglue though. If not, lemon juice or boiling water in a syringe (no need for a needle, inject it into it's mouth) should work too. Good luck!

Will that hurt the GSP around it? It's literally in the middle of them

The lemon juice and boiling water will hurt them if sprayed directly. I use superglue to attach GSP to rocks. It doesn't hurt them or anything else in the tank, which is why you would need to entirely encase the aiptasia in the superglue to cut it off from everything else.

I wouldnt worry about hurting GSP. Hell even if you killed all of it with the exception of 1 polyp you will be fine. It will regrow. You can keep that stuff alive in a toilet for a few days...with regular use...lol

Last night it was gone... Possible that the GSP grew over it...????

Update on CUC.

Will be arriving Wednesday.

I am receiving..

14 dwarf cerith
5 Florida cerith

In the future I plan on adding a cleaner shrimp and an emerald crab. (Experience with emeralds? Good/bad??)

I would like a variety of inverts in the tank... Any easy to keep starfish I could add??
